19/05 – Ashkan AZARFAR, PhD student, presents his work at the LCIS Day

On 19 May 2022, the LCIS laboratory organized a special day to present its activities to the wider public.

Ashkan AZARFAR, a PhD student working on the SCATTERER ID project, presented his work during the poster session.

The poster « Chipless RFID Based on Micro-Doppler Effect for Long Range Applications » presents how Chipless Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology has been introduced as an effective way to reduce the cost of traditional chipped UHF RFID. Since the tag does not rely on a silicon chip, fabrication cost can significantly be lowered. However, in comparison with chipped RFID, read range of the chipless tags is almost limited by 1 m in practice. This research demonstrates how motion effect can be exploited to read moving chipless RFID tags at larger distances compared to what has been reached without benifitly taking into account the movement.
